Hamar - My First 18 Months
My
name is Fullani Silent Thought, a very handsome Elkhound; I was born on
23rd February 1994. My friends call me Harmar as I was born
during the Winter Olympics that were in Hamar in Norway. I went to my
new home at 7 weeks old as a 30th wedding anniversary present
to my dad David from his wife Margaret. They had met because Mum had an
Elkhound and Dad had owned them as a child. The rest of my new family
were their daughters Debbie and Clare, an old spaniel called Solomon, a
Norwegian Buhund called Okie and rescued cross breed called Whisky, the
latter were both two years older than me. Almost immediately I joined
Mum, Okie and Whisky at the stables in the mornings. Most of the time I
played with a Jack Russell who was just two weeks older than me, when we
first met we were almost the same size but I grew and she didn’t!! Mum
used to call us all and when we came we were given treats, so I soon
learned to come when she called. Soon
I started to go to obedience classes with the others, heel work was
boring but I could do the recalls well as I did them every time we went
out with Mum, gradually I learned to retrieve, recover a scent cloth and
do a send away. I still go to obedience, which I like as I enjoy
chatting to the other dogs, and I get treats when I do things properly.
The Obedience trainer had won Crufts years ago and has GSD’s so Okie
and I had to educate her about the Spitz breeds, now she is one of our
biggest fans. When
I was six months old I when to a big show at Richmond Now
I was 18 months Mum and Dad said I could start agility, as my hip score
was good. I didn’t remember this being done but apparently it happened
when I went to the vets and fell asleep. I had heard about agility from
Whisky who went regularly with Debbie, apparently it was fun. continued.................................. see Hamar - My Agility Career ................
