Basset Fauve de Bretagne

Many thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge, and to the exhibitors for allowing me to go over their hounds.

The dogs overall were better quality than the bitches, where I found great diversity in size, type, and particularly in heads, some very 'houndy' and others with short flat ears. Movement in some could have been better but the ring was a bit 'bumpy' in parts which didn't help. some hounds were feeling the heat and were not very lively on the move, but all displayed the super friendly temperament of the Fauve.

Junior (3)

1/ Cochrane's Shiroblam Jazzanal That By Rowinch, BOB & BPIB. Super pup of 8 months, who when he settles must surely go right to the top. By far the best movement of the day, absolutely sound for and aft, with good forward reach and length of stride in profile. Lovely head, with correct proportions, good length of leather, ears set on correctly, dark eyes, and good pigmentation. Jacket of correct texture and good colour. Correct front assembly, with plenty of depth to cheat, and well pronounced sternum, good bone and feet, ribbing goes well back to short loin. Well muscled rear to compliment and balance the front. Full of life with happy disposition, will watch his progress with interest.
2/Taylor & Reddin's Kilbourne Anais, Neat little bitch with good harsh coat, pleasing outline to body, and nice head and expression, Moved out quite well.

Post Graduate (7, 2abs)

1/Hill's Brequest Colette Avec Shimmeree, Won this class on her overall balance and sound movement. Perhaps not the best of heads but her well proportioned body made up for that. Front has good depth, straight legs and correct slope to shoulders, well ribbed up body & sound rear. Covered the ground well on the move. Tight flat coat of good wire texture.
2/ Burch's Fauvend Back at the Moon, Close up to winner. This young boy is starting to mature in to quite a nice adult with a lot to like about him. Possibly feeling the heat as I've seen him perform better.

Open (7, 3abs)

1/ Cochrane's Shiroblam Pace Bowler for Rowinch, RBOB. Lovely rich red dog of good type, with balanced outline to body. good front with plenty of depth and forechest, strong bone and good feet. Masculine head, with good pigmentation and neat ears. Not at his best today, obviously feeling the heat, a bit sluggish buy still very sound on the move.
2/Richmond's Hibeck Jaffa, Similar type to winner but not as good in front, moved out well with good length of stride. Harsh coat texture covering well proportioned body.
